Ingredients
Make 1 teaspoon
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp cornstarch
Make 1 tablespoon
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cornstarch
Make 1/2 cup
- 4 T cream of tartar
- 2 T baking soda
- 2 T cornstarch
Why the Cornstarch Matters
- For Immediate Use: If you are using the baking powder right now, you can leave the cornstarch out. Just mix 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda.
- For Storing: If you want to keep the leftovers in your pantry, you must add the cornstarch. Cornstarch absorbs moisture from the air. Without it, the acid and base will react inside your storage jar and lose their fizz before you ever get to use them.
